What’s in a name?
Saturday, June 27, 2026, marks the inaugural edition of TEDxWoodstock. TEDxWoodstock started as TEDxHartlandHill, named for the ridge overlooking the community and the history woven through it. We are proud to take on the mantle of TEDxWoodstock, as it becomes clear that the ideas and conversations stretch well beyond one hillside. The shift to Woodstock reflects a broader sense of place: a town recognized around the world, but still deeply connected to the creativity, resilience, and community spirit of this region.
With this new licence for TED, we are also able to have larger audiences and move the event to Pentangle Arts at the Woodstock Town Hall Theatre. This is an exciting opportunity, as it more than triple the size of seats available and allows us to offer scholarships, special community discounts and other possibilities to make the program accessible to the community at large.
The hill grounds our story. Woodstock extends the invitation even wider. All are welcome.
We are honored to welcome keynote speaker Twyla Tharp, an internationally celebrated choreographer, author of The Creative Habit, and recipient of the National Medal of Arts, whose work continues to shape the landscape of contemporary creativity.
Stay tuned for the program schedule and ticket information. More to come…!

Rodney Marsalis
The sound of Rodney's trumpet has reverberated throughout the world. Whether playing baroque piccolo trumpet or interpreting works commissioned especially for him, his artistry has been enthusiastically received in the United States and in countries such as France, Spain, Germany, England, Greece, Romania, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. He has been praised by music critics from Fanfare Magazine, American Record Guide, Records International Catalog, and other international publications for his evocative interpretation, impeccable virtuosity, and beauty of sound.
Mica Celeste
Mica is a Vermont-based painter whose work centers on bold composition, color, and large-scale form. She came to painting after a turning point in her life, building her practice outside of traditional institutions through consistent, self-directed work.
Her work draws from personal experience, often exploring subject matter that feels both intimate and weighty. Through bold composition and simplified form, she creates images that hold that tension while still feeling bold, vivid, and alive.
Alongside her studio practice, Mica spent over a decade building partnerships and leading community-based initiatives.

What is Community?
What is Community? Home Heart & Hearth. With all our shared history, our foibles, and our strengths…what defines community and makes it work?
com·mu·ni·ty /kəˈmyo͞onədē/ [noun]“a group of people living together in one place, a feeling of fellowship with others, sharing common attitudes, interests and goals.” At our best…community is a verb.
This is not just a conversation about one community. It is a necessary conversation happening all over the globe. As we emerge from the Pandemic, what new ideas are shaping our world? How can we change for the better while still honoring the past? How do we grow our sense of humanity and humility in trying times? And what new innovations can we celebrate?

The Art of Living
This event explored the art of finding balance and purpose in our lives and featured a diverse lineup of speakers who will shared their unique perspectives and experiences from the academic to the artistic, the concrete to the cutting edge.
Now that we have made it through the pandemic, the conversation has shifted. Questions of how we create a life worth living have become an ever more central theme. What do we find important? How can we find more happiness AND purpose?

AWE
Now in our third year as part of a global community of live TED event speakers and TED Talk videos, the TEDx videos we’ve produced from our events have garnered over 200,000 views worldwide. Last year, we also donated almost a quarter of our tickets to local educators through our “Tickets For Teachers” Program, and we will increase our audience capacity through a new license from TED.
Every town has their Hartland Hill
Why Hartland Hill?
Woodstock is like many communities around the world. We have beauty. We have history. And we have a distinctive feel, unique to our esthetic. Hartland Hill represents all of those pieces sewn together giving us our identity.
Hartland Hill is also the physical point that looks over the town.
It’s witnessed our growth over hundreds of years. It’s witnessed the Under Ground Railroad; Washburn’s office, historically referenced as “Pentagon North” in center of town during the Civil War; the clear cutting of Mount Tom and the subsequent birth of Conservationism; the Arts & Crafts and music of the 60’s and 70’s; River Road becoming a river during Hurricane Irene and a community coming together to rebuild; and in recent years, a recalibration coming out of COVID to grow, heal, and bring all that is special about our area forward.
